A single center, independent, non-designer study examined a consecutive series of 228 consecutive Oxford Cementless PKRs in 211 patients with a minimum follow-up of 2 years, with a mean follow-up of 37.1 months.1
2-year implant survival was 97.5%, and 3-year survival was 96.9%
- 90.6% of knees were satisfactory or better at last follow-up
- 36% of taken radiographs showed signs of partial
radiolucent lines (RLLs) between 3-months and 1-year post-op. After
1-year follow-up, only 5% of radiographs showed RLLs, which again
further decreased to just 2% at minimum 2-year follow-up.
- The presence of RLLs was not associated with inferior clinical outcome.
- Obesity, age, and cartilage loss in the PFJ were not considered contraindications.
The study concluded that Oxford Cementless Partial Knee Replacements showed excellent survival rates after two years and three years of follow-up, with good to excellent clinical outcome and high patient satisfaction.
