Information for Orthopaedic Professionals

Indications

The Oxford® Partial Knee is a viable surgical option for partial knee replacement in patients with specific indications.

Indications:

  • Both cruciate ligaments must be functionally intact

  • Full thickness cartilage of lateral compartment

  • Correctable varus deformity

  • Flexion deformity should be less than 15°

  • Full thickness cartilage loss in the medial compartment

 Contraindications:

  • All forms of inflammatory arthritis

  • Medial or lateral subluxation, or posterior tibial bone loss which often suggests the ACL is damaged

Patello-femoral arthritis is not a contraindication as realignment of the femur unloads the damaged area of the patella-femoral joint.

The surgical technique manual provides a thorough list of criteria for suitable candidates for partial knee replacement.
